Masahiro Mori of Hakusan Pottery

The “Mug” mug, which looks like a leaf when viewed from above, has a unique appearance with the relief on the side and the handle integrated with the body.

The traditional “tenmoku” glaze has individual differences in the thickness of the deep brown glaze and the relief and hue of the rim due to kiln changes, giving it a design and texture that makes it look unlike pottery.

This piece received the Good Design Award, Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and recommendation system, in 1984.
