The rim with square crystal carvings is a mix of geometric and linear design based on the motif of the Hill House house, a masterpiece by Charles R. McIntosh, a leading architect of the Art Deco period. The form is sharp and linear. It takes a great deal of skill to apply square holes to this square plate.
Quartz carving is a type of pottery in which holes are carved by hand, each piece is filled with clay by hand, and fired twice at a high temperature of 1,300°C.
The result is a colorless, transparent, and translucent piece with a beautiful shine.
