The beauty of the deep blue rose that gently blooms and blends into the white porcelain using Okadome, Okura Touen's unique technique, is a sight to behold for anyone who sees it. This is the “Oka Dyeing” technique. The painting is done by applying cobalt pigments on the white porcelain after firing in the main kiln, and then firing again in the main kiln at the world's highest temperature of about 1,460°C. This allows the pigments to sink into the glaze, producing a unique deep azure expression.
This technique is only possible with Okura Toen's world-class white porcelain with its “white” color. Since the paint is melted into the glaze surface, the surface is glossy and smooth. It can be used for a long time, unchanged, and with peace of mind.
Since its establishment in 1919, Okura Toen has continued to produce porcelain of high artistic value as one of Japan's foremost manufacturers of Western tableware. While preserving traditional techniques, we have inherited the founder's spirit of craftsmanship and are constantly taking on new challenges.
